What Are The Types Of Prostate Cancer

Drewize Topics Masturbation Is Good For Men In A Healthy Way To Prevent Prostate Cancer

Believe it or not, theres more than one kind of prostate cancer. They differ in how quickly and aggressively they grow. Heres the breakdown:

  • Nearly all prostate cancers are known as adenocarcinomas. This type of cancer develops in gland cells. And, more than nine out of 10 prostate cancers are acinar adenocarcinomas. They affect a type of cell called acini.

Other types of prostate cancer are rare. They include:

  • Small cell carcinoma, a very aggressive cancer which accounts for about 1% of prostate cancers

  • Urothelial carcinoma of the prostate, a deadly, difficult-to-diagnose cancer that accounts for 1% to 4% of prostate cancers

  • Ductal adenocarcinoma, which on its own accounts for less than 1% of prostate cancers, but it can occur with acinar adenocarcinoma

Prostate Cancer Diagnoses And Treatment

All cancer is complex, but prostate cancer testing and treatment is particularly complicated.

In some men with prostate cancer, the cancer will grow very slowly, and wont significantly affect them during their lifetime. Other mens prostate cancer can grow and spread very quickly. At the moment, there is no test that can tell what type of prostate cancer a man has when he is diagnosed.

Because some treatments for prostate cancer can cause side effects which might impact on quality of life, its important for men to discuss with their doctor all their options for testing and treatment, and to discuss these with their partners and families. These might include watchful waiting, which means waiting to see what the cancer does over time, radiation, surgery or taking medications.

You can read more about what kinds of questions to ask your doctors about prostate cancer testing and treatment on the Cancer Council website.

What The Research Says

Steps to reduce cancer risk often include a lot of things you shouldnt do. So, it may be welcoming news to learn that something many men find pleasurable may help reduce your risk of prostate cancer.

Researchers dont understand exactly why frequent ejaculation might provide protection against prostate cancer. One theory is that ejaculation rids the prostate gland of cancer-causing materials, infection, and matter that can cause inflammation.

Despite strong evidence in favor of frequent ejaculation, the theory remains controversial. And there are . The greatest controversy regarding these studies is about the age when ejaculation occurs.

A 2008 determined that men were more likely to develop prostate cancer if they were very sexually active in their twenties and thirties. The study also found no conclusive evidence that masturbation provide greater risk than intercourse.

Prostate cancer is the second most common kind of cancer men get. Skin cancer is the most common cancer. In the United States, one in seven men will get prostate cancer at some point in their life.

The following factors affect your risk of getting prostate cancer:

You may also have an increased risk if youve had sex with 30 or more women or if youve had a sexually transmitted disease. This may be because of your sexual habits. Alternately, it could be that you have a stronger sex drive due to higher levels of male hormones, which can be a risk factor.

Men Should Ejaculate At Least 21 Times A Month To Slash Their Prostate Cancer Risk

Milking the cow is good for stress, anxiety and sleep too

Cum one cum all. We have a story that all men should take notice of.

According to researchers at Harvard University men should ejaculate at least 21 times a month in order to mitigate their prostate cancer risk.

For the study, which was published in the journal European Urology, 31,925 men provided their average monthly ejaculation frequencies. From that the researchers found that men who ejaculate more frequently also slash their chances of developing prostate cancer by a third.

“We evaluated whether ejaculation frequency throughout adulthood is related to prostate cancer risk in a large US-based study,” wrote the study’s authors.

“We found that men reporting higher compared to lower ejaculatory frequency in adulthood were less likely to be subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“These findings provide additional evidence of a beneficial role of more frequent ejaculation throughout adult life in the aetiology of PC , particularly for low-risk disease.”

But a reduced chance of getting prostate cancer isn’t the only benefit of milking the cow. Ejaculating more frequently has also been found to dramatically reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

“In addition to decreased feelings of pain, secretion of endorphins leads to feelings of euphoria, modulation of appetite, the release of sex hormones, and enhancement of the immune response,” says Medicine Net.

Why Can Ejaculating Protect Your Prostate

Does masturbation prevent prostate cancer?

One explanation is that when you ejaculate you eliminate toxins present in the semen. This decreases the amount of substances in the body that cause irritation and can lead to the appearance of tumours. It is not yet possible to determine whether there is a difference in the level of protection when ejaculation is the result of masturbation or sexual intercourse.

Connection Between Ejaculation And Prostate Cancer

The amount of ejaculations included those from sexual intercourse, masturbation and nocturnal emissions . The one study found that men who ejaculated 21 or more time a month had a 33% decreased chance of developing prostate cancer compared to those who ejaculated 4-7 times a month. The second study showed that men who averaged 4-7 ejaculations a week showed a 36% decreased chance of developing prostate cancer, before the age of 70, as compared to men who ejaculated less than 2-3 times a week.

It’s not known how this increased rate of ejaculation leads to a decreased risk of prostate cancer. The theory behind it is that ejaculation expels potentially harmful or irritating substances from the prostate, thereby decreasing the chances of the occurrence of a malignancy.

Can Prostate Massage Really Help An Enlarged Prostate

Prostate milking, or prostate massage, has the ability to give men intense relief from prostate problems. The prostate, or the prostate gland is a major organ in the male reproductive system.

The primary function of this gland is to produce prostatic fluid. This is the fluid that helps the sperm survive after ejaculation.

Unfortunately, factors like aging and a poor lifestyle can make the prostate weak. This results in an impairment in urinary function, sexual function and prostate inflammation.

It is important to know that prostate massage is not a new practice. It is a treatment that has been utilized for thousands of years in Asian culture, and it is still a treatment that is used today.

In fact, many men have reported feeling much better after one prostate massage session.

Study 3 Ejaculation Frequency And Subsequent Risk Of Prostate Cancer

An article published at the Harvard Medical School Annual Report on Prostate Diseases also claims that based on two extensive studies, frequent ejaculation wards off prostate cancer.

In the first study, about 29,000 men between the ages of 46 and 81 reported their average number of ejaculations per month in young adulthood , in mid-life , and in the most recent year. The ejaculations included masturbation, sexual intercourse, nocturnal emissions.

The participants provided information on their history of ejaculation frequency in a self-administered questionnaire in 1992 and responded to follow-up questionnaires every two years to 2000.

The results found that the risk of prostate cancer may be reduced for men who ejaculate 21 times or more per month. This was compared with men who only ejaculated 4-7 times a month.

Frequent Ejaculation May Reduce Prostate Cancer Risk: How Orgasm Protects Against Disease

During this years annual meeting of the American Urological Association in New Orleans, researchers affirmed what may be the first modifiable risk factor for prostate cancer: ejaculation.

A modifiable risk factor refers to the risks people can prevent through healthy habits, such as diet and exercise. Most of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, for example, are modifiable the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention reported healthy habits could prevent at least 200,000 of the deaths caused by heart attack and stroke. But for something like prostate cancer, the risks stem more from individual genes and family history.

A 2004 JAMA study was among the first to suggest a modifiable risk factor, finding high ejaculation frequency may be associated with lower risk for prostate cancer. The present research builds upon these findings with the high quality data collected from nearly 32,000 men participating in the Health Professionals Follow-up study the men were followed for a total of 18 years.

At the start of the study, men aged 20 to 29 and 40 to 49 were asked to calculate the average number of times they ejaculated per month, including the number of times they ejaculated during the previous year. Researchers then used both averages to compute a lifetime average.

Other Causes Of Prostate Cancer

While masturbation and testosterone levels may affect your chances, there are other factors that we know for sure play a role. For example, as with all cancers, older men are much more likely to develop prostate cancer than younger men.

Your genetics are one of the most important risk factors for prostate cancer too. If you have people in your family that have developed prostate cancer, you are more likely to develop it yourself. Interestingly, if people in your family have had breast cancer, your chance of developing prostate cancer is increased too.

Obesity is another risk factor that deserves a mention. One study found that men with obesity were 20% more likely to develop prostate cancer than lean men, whilst those severely obese were 34% more likely. Unfortunately, however, obese men are more likely to develop particularly aggressive forms of prostate cancer too.

How Are Prostate Cancer Stages Determined

Does Frequent Ejaculation Prevent Prostate Cancer ...

Once all testing has been completed, your doctor will tell you the stage of your cancer, or how much it has progressed and whether it has spread beyond your prostate. The stage will help your medical team decide which treatment is best for you. The higher the stage, the more advanced your cancer. The most common way to stage prostate cancer is the TNM system, developed by the American Joint Committee on Cancer, which hinges on three important factors:

  • T : How much of your prostate the tumor affects

  • N : Whether the cancer has spread beyond your prostate to nearby lymph nodes

  • M : Whether your cancer has metastasized, or spread far beyond your prostate to your bones, to nearby organs such as your bladder or rectum, or to more distant organs like your lungs, liver, or brain.

The TNM system also includes your PSA level and your Grade Group, based on your Gleason score. With your stage designated, which is labeled in a range of T1 to T4 , a treatment plan can be developed.

Things You Can Do To Prevent Prostate Cancer

Its one of those weird anatomical-arboreal coincidences: The human prostate is about the size and shape of a walnut. But what if it really were a walnut? For one thing, youd never get prostate cancer. Which sounds great, until you realise that you could get walnut curculio or walnut-husk maggot instead. Better to deal with the devil you know.

Putting the science below into action wont confer absolute immunity, but it will make your prostate one tough nut to crack.

1. Love thyself

As if masturbation didnt already provide enough of a payoff, an Australian study found that DIY sex may also help prevent prostate cancer. The study of 2 338 men showed that the guys who masturbated five or more times a week were 34% less likely to develop prostate cancer by age 70 than those who handled matters less often.

Seminal fluid contains substances that are carcinogenic, says Graham Giles, PhD, the lead study author. Regular ejaculation may help flush them out.

And in case youre wondering, no, masturbating more than once a day wont offer more protection, and yes, straight-up sex works, too. But before you have unprotected nookie with your partner, be sure shes been tested for cytomegalo-virus, a type of herpes found in cancerous prostate tissue.

While further research is needed to know precisely how masturbation decreases the risk of prostate cancer, there is strong evidence of their relationship.

Besides, masturbation has other benefits that boost our well-being, relieve stress.

While it is true that theres nothing wrong with ejaculating frequently, it is also true that excessive masturbation can become a compulsory behavior, and in these cases, especially when it is affecting relationships, it becomes a serious concern that should be addressed with psychotherapy.

Although some studies showed variations in results and did have some limitations, overall, it appears that regular sexual activity and masturbation may have a positive effect on prostate health.
