Works As A Chemopreventive Agent
Chemoprevention involves the administration of various agents that prevent potential premalignant cells from developing into cancer.
It is curbing cancer in initial stages and terminating it.
Turmeric and curcumin not only kill fully developed cancerous cells but also work as chemopreventive agents.
Researchers identify inhibition of nuclear factor-kappa B by curcumin as the principal mechanism behind its chemopreventive action.
Nuclear factor-kappa B is the master target behind inflammatory processes and also plays a vital role in cell development.
Apart from that Rahmani et. al have identified multiple molecular targets such as activation of tumor suppressor genes, activation of cell death genes etc. that curcumin acts upon to prevent cancer.
A scientific paper published in the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention states that dietary turmeric reduces the risk of cancer.
Now that is a pretty powerful statement who has a genetic history of developing cancer.
This is also evidenced by a study where 12 weeks of oral supplementation with turmeric extract prevented and reversed the development of cervical cancer in women.
Turmeric For Prostate Health
Turmeric has many benefits for supporting prostate health, especially health concerns related to aging and inflammation. Turmerics phytochemicals, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties help support the bodys inflammatory response, fighting inflammation and aging. Many men take turmeric for prostatitis and BPH.
India has a very low prostate cancer rate, which is thought to be related to their diet, which is rich in turmeric and other plant-based foods. When researchers at Rutgers injected turmeric and a phytonutrient from cruciferous vegetables into prostate cancer cells it reduced well-establish prostate cancer tumors. No wonder turmeric and cruciferous vegetables are part of the best diet during cancer treatment.

Shrink The Prostate Without Expensive Drugs Surgery Or Side Effects
Prostate problems affectmost men over 50.
For some men it means increased urgency and waking up 3 or 4 times a night. For other men it means public incontinence, pain or even prostate cancer.
Eventually, many men give up and wrongly believe that their only options are expensive pills their doctor kept pushing them to take.
These men often end up enduring the nasty side effects, only to discover that the medication they were prescribed is very often a temporary solution at best. Other men are so desperate, they let a surgeon slice into them, digging and scraping and cutting out the prostate gland.
Other men are so desperate, they let a surgeon slice into them, digging and scraping and cutting out the prostate gland.
These men suffer high rates of sexual dysfunction or even permanent impotence .
Many men think that prostate disease is a natural part of getting older, that its inevitable and just something they have to suffer with.
These men couldnt be more wrong.
Because Prostate Disease is not a symptom of age.

Curcumin For Heart Health
Curcumin can improve heart health, and a double-blind study shows that it provides protection for patients post-bypass surgery. The study was published in the American Journal of Cardiology and involved 121 consecutive non-emergency heart bypass operation patients. The researchers gave half of the patients 1 gram of curcumin four times a day, three days before the surgery and five days after. The other half of patients received a placebo. The curcumin group showed a 65% lowered risk of heart attack post-surgery. The curcumin group also had significantly lower levels of oxidative stress markers in their blood and lower levels of inflammation.
It Increases Chemo And Radiosensitivity
Apart from exerting the anti-cancer effect, curcumin even sensitizes cancer cell to conventional cancer therapy.
It acts on specific genetic factors, growth regulatory pathways, drug resistance proteins, proteins that prevent cell death in order to increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to cancer treatment.
Curcumin is found to increase the sensitivity of various cancers such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer etc, to various chemotherapeutic drugs.
Similarly, curcumin overcomes radioresistance by acting on various targets that control cell growth and development.
What does this mean?Curcumin as an add-on to conventional cancer treatment can help increase sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

What Is Enlarged Prostate
Enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia , is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate.
The prostate is a small gland located between the bladder and the penis.
As a natural part of aging, a mans prostate gland grows larger. For some men, this growth is uneventful, but for others, it can lead to BPH.
Studies show that 50% of men between the ages of 51 and 60 and 90% of men over 80 are diagnosed with BPH.
One study suggested that an estimated 612 million men globally have BPH.
As the prostate enlarges, it can squeeze down on the urethra, creating a thicker bladder wall.
This enlargement may obstruct the flow of urine and causes a variety of symptoms.
Symptoms of BPH include:
- Urinary retention or inability to urinate
- Painful urination
Treating BPH may depend on the severity of the symptoms.
Mild to moderate BPH symptoms may be treated with lifestyle changes that include following an enlarged prostate diet.

Foods High In Curcumin
In this case, we are talking about a spice instead of a nutrient. Thus, we do not have a long list of foods that contain curcumin. The primary source is turmeric, but you can also find curcumin as a powder in the market. Its what gives mustard its yellow color, too.
However, since the daily dose is rather high compared to what we usually have, we recommend using a supplement instead. Other ways you can increase your intake of curcumin is through one of these daily hacks:
- Turmeric smoothie: They taste great if you add whey powder, almond milk, peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder.
- Turmeric salad dressing: Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and any other spices that go along with the taste.
- Curry sauce recipes: Its an Indian sauce you can find already made in the market or do it yourself with turmeric, margarine, peanut oil, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, coriander, cilantro, chili peppers, and yogurt.
How Is Turmeric Used
We know by now that Turmeric is a spice. Certain cheeses and butter also contain Turmeric. There are also some types of mustard that are made with Turmeric Spice. It also forms part of other plant-based foods families. The root of the Turmeric plan has been used as a medicinal plant for thousands of years.
Turmeric is also used in certain cosmetic products. You will also find that the compound is sometimes used in yellow food coloring products.
If you are looking to experience the benefits we have looked at, however, youll most likely be interested in turmeric supplements.
These supplements will usually contain Curcumin. This is the chemical in the Turmeric plant. It has all of the powerful medicinal properties that we talked about.

It Acts On 30+ Targets To Induce Cell Death In Cancer Cells
Curcumin interacts with 30+ molecular targets in order to kill cancer cells selectively.
Cancer cells are immortal due to the disruption of pathways that regulate the cell cycle, but curcumin comes and rearranges these pathways in a way that cancer cells are susceptible to cell death.
It acts on external cell death pathways to kill cancer cells.
It blocks the activity of cell survival pathways, damages DNA, balances prooxidant and antioxidant agents, acts on inflammatory enzymes and also mediates various other mechanisms to kill only cancer cells and not normal cells.
What does this mean?Curcumin selectively terminates only cancer cells without affecting normal cells via multiple mechanisms.

Turmeric is a spice that comes from the Curcuma plant. If you want to purchase fresh turmeric, you may be able to find it at a farmers market. If not, look for it online.
The rhizome looks a lot like ginger root with its brown peel, but it is bright orange to yellow inside. You can cut it up, grate it, juice it, crush it through a garlic press, and add it to almost anything .
Dried turmeric is a powder whose color ranges from orange to yellow. You can make your own turmeric powder by peeling, boiling, drying, and then grating fresh rhizomes, but consume fresh, uncooked turmeric to maximize its health benefits. When using in recipes that require cooking, try adding some before the cooking process and then grate some fresh turmeric on top of the meal before eating.
In recipes, one tablespoon of fresh turmeric is equivalent to one teaspoon of dried turmeric for taste.
Turmeric is one of the basic and best known ingredients in curry and is a commonly used spice in Indian and Asian cooking. It is delicious in salad dressings or heavily sprinkled on salads and is a welcome addition to vegetable dishes, dips, and sauces.

What Is It Exactly
The term is called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia OR Enlarged Prostate. It is a Noncancerous Increase in the Size of the Prostate.
- Frequent Urinations especially at night. Instead of the Normal Sleeping through the night Freely, We have to Go 2 to 5 times depending on the Severity.
- Trouble Starting to Urinate or Longer wait times to Begin.
- Inability to Go until a Later time. The Urethra Canal is being Pinched. So, more Fluid has to build up to break through the Swollen Prostate that is Clamping down on the Pathway for Liquid to Flow.
- Weak Stream from the normal Full Flow.
It Helps Reduce Inflammation In Prostatitis
Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland. Sometimes the cause could be a bacterial infection.
It is characterized by pain in the genitals and lower back and discomfort while urinating.
Curcumin in combination with other herbal extracts was tested for its effect of bacterial prostatitis.
Group A received antibiotics and herbal extracts while Group B received only antibiotics.
90% of the patients receiving the duo showed improvement while only 27% of the patients in group B recovered completely within one month. Within 6 months of treatment, no patient from Group A had a recurrence of prostatitis.
Animal study proves that curcumin is effective in treating non-bacterial prostatitis. In this study, curcumin reduced the levels of pro-inflammatory agents such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin and in turn controlled inflammation.
What does this mean?
Turmerics anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial property can help treat and prevent recurrence of prostatitis.

The Dosage Of Turmeric For Cancer
Turmeric in diet can help prevent cancer. Curcumin, one of the active ingredients is poorly absorbed in the body and hence should be combined with black pepper and/or healthy fats for better absorption.
Here are the top 4 ways of taking turmeric/curcumin for cancer:
1. Turmeric supplements
For cancer, we recommend taking turmeric supplements as conditions like cancer require high doses of curcumin for treatment. The dosage for the same as outlined in the article Turmeric / Curcumin Dosage for Cancer : A Scientific Plan.
Consult your doctor before taking turmeric supplements for cancer.
It is advisable to keep a gap of 3-4 hours between taking turmeric/curcumin supplements and other medicines since curcumin interferes with drug metabolism.
Also, avoid taking turmeric supplements on an empty stomach to avoid acid reflux.
Please consult your doctor before starting.
2. Golden PasteGolden Paste is a combination of turmeric with black pepper and healthy fats to ensure better absorption of turmeric.
Start with low doses such as ¼-1/2 tsp a day for a week and if you observe no side effects increase the dose by gradually every week to reach the ideal dose of 2-3 tsp a day.
Avoid taking it on an empty stomach and close to taking other medicines.
Please consult your doctor before starting.
3. Turmeric Milk and Tea
4. Turmeric in cooking
If not taking Golden Paste it is highly advised to include turmeric in regular cooking and diet to prevent and fight cancer.
It Reverses Drug Resistance In Cancer Cells
Multidrug resistance is a serious challenge in cancer treatment. P-glycoprotein is a protein involved in drug metabolism and its overexpression in cancer cell confers drug resistance.
Curcumin regulates the activity of P-gp to reverse drug resistance in cancer.
A rigorous review study identifies over 100 pieces of evidence that confirm that curcumin overcomes drug resistance in cancer cells and increases sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs.
Curcumin regulates the activity of cancer stem cells to reverse drug resistance.
A study was conducted where individuals suffering from gemcitabine-resistant cancer were treated with curcumin and gemcitabine. They received 8g of curcumin orally every day.
Good compliance was seen with curcumin treatment and a 1-year survival rate was 19%. Researchers concluded that curcumin in combination with gemcitabine was safe for the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
What does this mean?Curcumin can reverse drug resistance in cancer and increase sensitivity of cancer cells towards chemotherapeutic drugs.

Halts Progression Of Pre
As mentioned previously, curcumin works as a chemopreventive agent and prevents cancer from developing and progressing.
A clinical trial was conducted in National Taiwan University College Of Medicine to assess this effect of curcumin.
25 individuals were recruited for this study and they suffered from the following 5 high-risk conditions:
Resected urinary bladder cancer Bowens disease of cancer Cervical epithelial neoplasia Oral leucoplakia Intestinal metaplasia
Individuals were treated with 500mg curcumin/day initially and if no side effects were observed the dose was escalated gradually to reach 12g/day.
Serum concentrations were detectable at 1-2 hours after ingestion and dropped within 12 hours.
7 individuals showed an improvement evidenced by tissue culture. Only 2 individuals developed malignancy despite curcumin treatment.
No side effects were observed at high doses but at a dose of 12g the size of the capsule was too large for ingestion. 8g of curcumin taken orally for 3 months was found to be safe and beneficial in chemoprevention.
Rai et. al also demonstrated that oral curcumin intake can cure oral precancerous conditions like oral leukoplakia, oral submucous fibrosis or lichen planus by virtue of its antioxidant property and ability to protect from DNA damage.
Oral turmeric oil extract consumed for 12 weeks can regress and prevent cervical lesions from developing into cervical cancer.
