Studies Involving The Benefits Of Turmeric For Prostate Health

Turmeric for a healthy heart, prostate, reduce inflammation and pain, and so much more!

Supporting prostate health is important at any age, but even more so for older men who are already showing signs of enlarged prostate, prostatitis, or prostate cancer. The phytochemicals contained in turmeric work together to induce anti-inflammatory and antioxidant responses within the body. More than five thousand studies have investigated the therapeutic and preventive capabilities of turmeric, discovering over 600 benefits exist. These studies also show that curcumin is not easily digested by the body, often requiring taking turmeric in high-quality supplemental form to achieve greater benefits than ingesting the spice.

The results of one study published in 2012 on the therapeutic role of curcumin in treating chronic prostatitis showed promising results. These beneficial changes seemed to optimize the results achieved by taking prescribed antibiotics to treat the bacterial infection accompanying this condition.

Studies indicate that curcumin offers chemopreventive qualities, effectively changing the progression of cancer cells in the prostate. More specifically, curcumin has the ability to influence cell activity in such a way that the cancer stopped growing. Since prostate-gland inflammation increases the likelihood of developing this form of cancer, the anti-inflammatory capabilities provide a natural remedy with no attached side effects.

Using Medication To Reduce Symptoms

  • 1Recognize the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Look for a weak stream of urine, dribbling at the end of urination, or an increased need to urinate at night. You may also have difficulty starting urination or need to strain to empty your bladder. If you notice these symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor for an official diagnosis.XTrustworthy SourceMayo ClinicEducational website from one of the world’s leading hospitalsGo to source
  • 2Try alpha-blockers if you have trouble urinating. Talk to your doctor about alpha-blockers, which can relax muscles around the bladder and prostate. These drugs help increase the flow of urine when you use the bathroom and keep you from needing to urinate too frequently.XResearch source
  • While adverse side effects are infrequent, alpha-blockers can cause dizziness. The good news is, they typically help relieve symptoms within a few weeks.
  • Take alpha-blockers, like tamsulosin, as directed by your doctor.
  • Most alpha-blockers are safe to take with other medications. Consult your pharmacist for any potential drug interactions with your current medication regimen.
  • 3Explore enzyme-inhibitors if you have a very enlarged prostate. Ask your doctor if enzyme-inhibitors, like finasteride and dutasteride, would be a good fit for your symptoms. These drugs shrink prostate tissue to reduce urinary problems and are often most effective on severely enlarged prostates.XResearch source
  • Like alpha-blockers, dizziness is the most common side effect.

    Why I Use Prostate Plus

I would never write an article called best prostate supplement reviews if I didnt use the product myself. I first started using Prostate Plus in 2016. My prostate was back to normal size. However I noticed a couple of mornings I had a weak urine flow again and there was some pain afterwards. I did the usual search on Google for something that could help. I was still using my oats protocol but just needed something to take the sting out of urinating. What I did try was a number of supplements that were basically useless and turned out to contain a lot of filler. Someone mentioned Prostate Plus to me so I gave it a go.

I can tell you it worked beautifully and within a couple of days I was, as I like to say, urinating like a firehose!

    What Caused My Enlarged Prostate

In the late 1990s my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure. She actually said my blood pressure was rising, it wasnt too bad but before it gets too high lets put you on BP tablets. I wasnt all that keen especially after she told me I would need to be on them for the rest of my life and if I ever stopped taking them I would die! True. That is what she told me.

I loved my doctor, she was a lovely lady and I believed she had my best interests at heart. Looking back now I know she was a victim of Big Pharma. Big Pharma sponsor doctors and send them to seminars where they sell the benefits of their latest pill. The poor old doctor gets basically brainwashed into believing how wonderful the latest pill is, and then on sells them to the even poorer old public who have to pay for them.

Understanding The Importance Of Your Prostate

How to Shrink an Enlarged Prostate – Best Prostate Supplement Reviews

Many men do not understand what their prostate does and how it can impact their lives. The prostate is a small gland that is about the size and shape of a walnut that is located below the neck of the bladder. The urethra runs through the center of your prostate, from the bladder through the penis, letting urine flow out of the body.

Your prostate can become larger as you age, and usually begins to grow around the age of 40-50; this is a normal part of aging. Eventually, this growth can lead to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, better known as BPH.

As the prostate enlarges, it presses on and blocks the urethra, causing bothersome urinary symptoms such as:

    • Frequent need to urinate both day and night
    • Weak or slow urinary stream
    • A sense that you cannot completely empty your bladder
    • Difficulty or delay in starting urination
    • Urgent feeling of needing to urinate
    • A urinary stream that stops and starts

If you suffer from the above symptoms, you are not alone. BPH is the leading reason men visit a urologist.3

    Remedies For An Enlarged Prostate

Even if you have an enlarged prostate, that does not mean you must live with the symptoms for the rest of your life. Your doctor might advise one of several approaches to coping with BPH, including lifestyle changes, medication changes, and other treatments. The remedies and treatments available will depend on your own health situation and how disruptive the symptoms have become.

    Get Sufficient Exercise

Exercise can improve with your overall fitness, as well as benefit your prostate health. Studies have shown a connection between increased physical activity and reduced risk of BPH, with exercise of any type having some degree of benefit.

Seated activities, such cycling, can put pressure on the perineum and groin. This can lead to numbness or pinched nerves. To avoid these issues, make sure you utilize a wide seat and engage in a variety of activity types.

You can also try Kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic muscles and reduce urine dribbling. To do these exercises, squeeze the muscles that affect urine flow and then release, repeating several times to train the muscles.

    Slow Down

When you head to the bathroom, make sure you slow down. When you relax your muscles and leave time to account for delayed urine and possible dribbling, youre much more likely to completely empty your bladder. Urine that remains in the bladder because of an enlarged prostate can lead to urinary tract infections or painful bladder stones.

    What You Can Do Now

Research supports incorporating turmeric and its extract, curcumin, into your treatment plan. The spice has been shown to reduce the spread of cancer, and even prevent precancerous cells from becoming tumorous. If you plan to add the spice to your regimen, remember the following:

    • The recommended dose is 1/2 teaspoon per day.
    • You may experience side effects if you consume turmeric in larger amounts.
    • You shouldnt use the spice if you have certain conditions or take certain medications.

You should speak with your doctor about how often and how much turmeric to use. Although turmeric may have many benefits, no evidence suggests using the spice as a standalone treatment option.

    What The Research Says

How Could Turmeric Prevent or Treat Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is not the only area of male health, where the use of curcumin could be useful. Scientific research has revealed that turmeric could be useful for any man even when they do not have any existing problems with their prostate.

The use of curcumin may be able to effectively prevent the development of common issues that men tend to face with their prostate. The earlier the use of curcumin is initiated, the more significant of a reduction may be experienced.

Apart from being able to prevent the development of certain prostate-related conditions, curcumin is also beneficial for men who do have an existing disease or condition that affect this gland.

The most important benefit of turmeric is its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. When a curcumin extract is used, it can effectively reduce the signaling of inflammatory pathways in the body.

Both benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatitis feature inflammation. With BPH, however, there is also an actual enlargement of the prostate gland, caused by excessive tissue growth.

The Journal of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine reports that the use of curcumin may be an effective way of inhibiting the effects of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

During the study, animal models were used to determine whether curcumin would be able to effectively inhibit the enlargement of the prostate gland when BPH is induced with the use of testosterone supplementation.
