The study participants overall consumed an average of 1.9 cups of coffee per day. During the 20 years of follow-up , the researchers found that 5035 of the 47,911 men were confirmed to have developed prostate cancer. Of these, 642 patients had lethal type prostate cancers , 896 were advanced, and 3,221 were non-advanced.
Researchers found that men drinking six or more cups per day had an 18% lower risk of overall prostate cancer compared with non-coffee drinkers . However, when only lethal forms of the prostate cancer were considered in this group, the risk was decreased by approximately 60% vs non-coffee drinkers .

Checking For Health Benefits Of Coffee
Mucci and her colleagues tracked more 47,911 men who participated in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. The men reported their intake of coffee, both regular and decaf, in 1986, and every four years after that.
From 1986 to 2006, 5,035 men developed prostate cancer. This included 642 with lethal forms of the cancer. Lethal forms were either fatal or were cancers that spread.
The researchers evaluated whether there was a coffee and prostate cancer link. They found it held after accounting for such factors as obesity and smoking.
“We’re not exactly sure what the mechanism is,” Mucci says. It could be the antioxidants in coffee.
Or it could be substances that reduce inflammation, which has also been linked with higher prostate cancer risk.
“I think it’s probably too early to tell men to start drinking coffee to lower their risks of lethal prostate cancer,” she tells WebMD.
However, she adds, it’s probably good news for men who already enjoy a cup or more.

What Causes Kidney Stones
A major risk factor for kidney stones is constant low and concentrated urine. The commonest cause for this is the loss of body fluids from hard exercise, time spent in a hot place, or not drinking enough fluids. When urine volume is low, urine is concentrated and dark in color.

Drinking More Coffee Every Day Could Lower Your Risk Of Prostate Cancer
Higher coffee consumption is significantly associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer, researchers have found.
New results published in BMJ Open, saw researchers examine data from 16 different studies from 1989 to 2019. They pooled the information together to assess the overall reduction of risk from coffee consumption.
The team from the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University found that men who drink several cups of coffee a day had a lower risk of developing prostate cancer compared to those with the lowest consumption levels. Each additional daily cup was associated with a reduction in risk of 1 per cent, the findings indicate.
Each study categorised highest and lowest consumption levels differently.
The studies included in the researchers analysis looked at data from more than a million men across North America, Europe and Japan. The data included information on almost 58,000 men who had prostate cancer.
Compared with the lowest category of coffee consumption, those deemed to have the highest consumption appeared to have a reduction in prostate cancer risk of 9 per cent. Further analysis found that the highest intake was associated with a 7 per cent lower risk of localised prostate cancer than the lowest intake of coffee.

Green Tea Vs Black Tea
After tea leaves have been picked they can be treated in two ways. The first is a process called oxidation where the leaves are left out in the fresh air. Study Shows Regular Drinking of Decaf or Caffeinated Coffee May Protect Against Prostate Cancer
May 17, 2011 — Men who drink coffee regularly appear to lower their risk of prostate cancer, especially the lethal form, new research suggests.
When the researchers looked at all forms of prostate cancer, ”the highest coffee drinkers had about a 20% lower risk of developing prostate cancer during the follow-up,” says researcher Lorelei Mucci, ScD, MPH, associate professor of epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.
The 20% lower risk was found in those drinking six or more cups daily compared to none, she tells WebMD.
Coffee protected even more against the most lethal form of prostate cancer. Among those drinking one to three cups a day, the risk of lethal prostate cancer declined 29%, compared to that of nondrinkers. Among those drinking six or more cups daily, the risk for deadly prostate cancer was reduced 60% compared to that of nondrinkers.
The surprise: the risk reduction held for both regular coffee and decaf, leading the researchers to speculate it’s not the caffeine providing the protection.
The study is published online in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

The journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research published a study in 2009 in which researchers evaluated the impact of coffee and tea on prostate health. Investigators concluded that while coffee had no apparent relationship with prostate cancer, evidence from animal and in vitro studies suggests that tea, and especially green tea, is a healthier choice than coffee for prostate health.
