What Do You Do If You Are Diagnosed

Beating Prostate Cancer

The side effects of treating prostate cancer can be quite serious. Thats why, for men with low-risk prostate cancer, doctors have been pushing hard to ensure that most get treated with active surveillance.

Thats right: the most common treatment for prostate cancer is to simply to leave it and watch.

Men sometimes struggle with this idea: What do you mean youre going to leave it there?, says Murphy.

In addition to where the prostate cancer is located, doctors are also interested in how aggressively it is growing. A man with a slow-growing cancer in the prostate but nowhere else will usually be put on the active surveillance protocol. They will undergo a PSA test every three to six months, as well as regular MRI scans and physical exams.

Thats been one of the great advances in the last five or 10 years: active surveillance, says Heathcote.

If the results of the tests show the cancer is growing faster or more aggressively, action will be taken. For about one in three men on active surveillance, the cancer will grow and spread, and action will need to be taken.

The other 70 per cent of that group will never need treatment, says Murphy. And thats really interesting, isnt it? Developing cancer in the prostate can be looked at really as a natural form of ageing.

How To Gently Stimulate It

If youre still a bit freaked out by exploring past your typical stroking-one-out, then start small. And by small, we mean by simply using your own fingers after you shower to find your area. The easiest way to stimulate the male G-spot is to press gently on the skin between his balls and anus, known as the perineum . You can do this by yourself when masturbating, Singer explains.

If youd like your girlfriend to help you take that initial plunge into the G-spot unknown, get her to stimulate it while youre having sex. As Singer details, Your partner can massage this area during sex or apply rhythmic pressure with her fingers to add to your pleasure. Giving this spot extra attention right before you climax will add some mind-blowing intensity to your orgasm.

What Causes Incontinence After Prostate Surgery

A Gay Man

Urinary incontinence is a potential side effect of prostate removal surgery. The prostate is located just below the bladder and surrounds the urethra. Removing it, or using radiation to treat it, can sometimes cause damage to the nerves and muscles of the bladder, urethra, and or sphincter, which controls the passage of urine from the bladder. This can result in urinary incontinence.

What About Prostate Cancer How Is That Different

Prostate cancer occurs when cancer cells normal human cells that have picked up genetic mutations, making them grow out of control begin to grow in the prostate, inflating its size. These random mutations in cancer cells may encourage the cell to grow abnormally, or turn off the normal system of programmed cell death.

The prostate has the second-highest incidence of cancer of any organ in the body, male or female, just slightly behind breast cancer. More than half of American men have some cancer in their prostate glands by age 80 but compared to most other cancers, it is slow-growing.

This is strange, if you think about it: the prostate is tiny. How can it be more likely to develop cancer than the lungs or heart or the bodys largest organ, the skin?

Scientists dont yet have an answer. One theory suggests that, as prostate cancer is slow-growing, it is unlikely to kill a man before he has had time to reproduce, so there has been no prompt for evolution to find ways to weed it out.

As a consequence, all men accumulate them during their life, and all die with cancer cells inside their prostate, says Deakin University evolutionary biologist Associate Professor Beata Ujvari.

This phenomenon is exacerbated, too, by the fact that we live longer, thereby giving more opportunity to tumours to become metastatic.

Many men with prostate cancer wont have any symptoms. Often, the cancer is picked up only after a PSA test .

General Prostate Cancer Survival Rate

According to the American Cancer Society:

  • The relative 5-year survival rate is nearly 100%
  • The relative 10-year survival rate is 98%
  • The 15-year relative survival rate is 91%

Note: Relative survival rate means the percentage of patients who live amount of years after their initial diagnosis.

Keep in mind, however, that because the compiled list figures are of cancers diagnosed up to 15 years ago, you may have an even greater chance of survival than these indicate due to advances in prostate cancer treatment technology

Rob Halford Urges Men To Get Their Prostate Checked After Cancer Battle

Rob Halford has urged men to get their “prostate checked” after his cancer battle.

The Judas Priest frontman was diagnosed with prostate cancer amid the COVID-19 pandemic last year, but, fortunately, he is in remission.

And now, the 70-year-old heavy metal icon has explained the reason he updated his version of his ‘Confess’ autobiography to include his diagnosis was in order to encourage men of a “certain age” to get themselves checked out regularly.

In an interview with MariskalRock, Rob began “It’s in remission. I count my blessings thanks to God. It was a time when You know, timing is everything in rock and roll and heavy metal. And, of course, this was going on during the pandemic the initial stages of the pandemic so the world was completely closed down.

“Priest would have been on a bit of a hiatus anyway, because we had just been around the world three times with ‘Firepower’, so we were gonna be on a kind of a break although we were writing for the new album.

“And so I was able to take care of three things, really promote ‘Confess’, do some writing with the band before I came back to Phoenix, and then get this cancer business sorted out.”

He then urged: “It’s just a miracle what they can do with health care these days it’s absolutely remarkable. So in my story, my main message is to guys everywhere around the world, when you get to a certain age, it’s very important that you get your prostate checked, your bloodwork checked, get a colonoscopy.

    How Is The Male G

When you discuss a womans G-spot, youre likely on a mission to not only find the sucker, but to work your best at pushing her to the brink of an orgasm. Every woman reacts differently to their G-spot being stimulated some might find it incredibly intense to the point where its not comfortable, while others encourage their partners to go there as often as they can. A males G-spot is pretty similar, and Singer notes that there is little scientific evidence to suggest much difference between either sex.

The female G-spot is a sensitive area of the anterior wall of the vagina believed to be highly erogenous and capable of ejaculation. Also referred to as the ‘Skene’s gland’ and the ‘urethral sponge’, the ‘female prostate’ is an accepted term. The male prostate is biologically homologous to the Skene’s gland and has been unofficially called the male G-spot because it can also be used as an erogenous zone, Singer explains. So, although very little scientific consensus exists on exactly what the female versus male G-spots actually are, they are similar in many regards, most importantly in that stimulation of both can lead to explosive orgasms for both men and women.

Prostate Orgasm: Do Men Know About The Prostate Orgasm ...

A lot of biological men of all gender identities and sexual orientations do find direct or indirect pressure on their prostate to be really pleasurable. Some apprehension is understandable because anal penetration remains taboo, especially for many heterosexual men.

Never do anything that you dont want to. But if youre interested in giving it a try, talk to your partner openly and take it slow. Dont go for finding the P-spot on your first anal expedition.

Instead experiment with having your partner touch your anus from the outside, and, if it feels good, maybe ask them to insert their finger just a little tiny bit. Or, you might want to do all of this experimentation on your own while masturbating, and then share your discoveries with your partner later.

Either way, always do whats best for you and your partner. Sex is supposed to be fun and intimate and beautiful, remember?

What Happens After Urethral Sling Surgery

Patients usually recover from this surgery quickly. Its best to limit demanding activities for approximately six weeks after surgery to avoid having the sling loosen before healing is complete.

After surgery, there may be swelling that makes it difficult to urinate. Youll have a catheter coming out of the urethra for two to three days. After this, the catheter is removed and just about everyone is able to void on their own. In rare cases, the catheter may have to be reinserted for a few days or up to a week if you cannot urinate.

After the swelling goes down, youll gradually be able to urinate on your own and empty your bladder. However, your normal pattern may not return for a few weeks.

The majority of men whove had this procedure have been cured of their urinary incontinence and no longer use pads. The others usually improve to the point where they dont use as many pads as they were before.

Prostate Cancer: What Men can do to help themselves

Everyone has a G-spot, male and female alike. An easy way to think about it is to consider those goosebumps you get on your skin when youre surprised, a cool air runs through or you get scared. While uncomfortable at first, the sensation itself is enjoyable if you embrace the unfamiliar territory. Those goosebumps come from a shift in your nerve endings, and when you target the G-spot, youre putting pressure on your most sensitive body part. Sexpert Coleen Singer explains that a German gynecologist named Ernst Gräfenberg was the first to discuss this area, and thus, its named after him. This wasnt until 1950 so if youre still getting on the bandwagon, youre likely not alone. It is commonly thought that a greater concentration of nerve endings are contained in both male and female G-spots which, when stimulated properly, can lead to intense orgasms in both genders, Singer says.

Everything You Need To Know About Prostate Cancer

It turns out most men do not know any of the symptoms of prostate cancer.

    By PA/TPN, in Health·02 Dec 2021, 08:35·

According to a survey for YouGov, of the men polled, most were generally unable to identify any of the signs or symptoms of the disease

The poll of 1,456 men found 68 percent werent aware of any of the symptoms and even amongst older men who are most at risk knowledge is fairly low. In fact, 62 percent of those aged 50-59 didnt know any signs, nor did 60 percent of 60-69-year-olds and 54 percent of 70 to 79-year-olds. And only one in eight men spotted the most recognised symptom, which is having to or feeling the need to urinate more frequently.

So what else do you need to know about prostate cancer?

    Where the prostate is

According to Prostate Cancer UK, prostate cancer starts in the prostate gland, which is at the base of the bladder and is about the size of a walnut. The prostate gland gets bigger as you age, and its main job is to make the thick white fluid that creates semen when mixed with sperm produced by the testicles.

Initially there dont tend to be symptoms

Localised prostate cancer doesnt usually trigger any symptoms. Signs dont normally appear until the prostate is big enough to affect the urethra .

If symptoms do kick in, theyll likely affect you when urinating
