Can A Vaginal Yeast Infection Be Passed From A Female To A Male? | Ask Eric Bakker

Prostatitis caused by bacterial illness often can be treated with antibiotics, or the condition can be chronic that recurs and requires long-term medical attention.

  • Acute bacterial prostatitis can often be treated very successfully and has a very good prognosis.
  • Chronic prostatitis, and especially chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, can often lead to long-term symptoms and discomfort if treatment is unsuccessful. It is important to have close follow-up and continued care by either your primary care doctor or a urologist.
  • Prostatitis does not increase your risk of developing prostate cancer.

What Are Clinical Trials And Are They Right For You

Clinical trials are part of clinical research and at the heart of all medical advances. Clinical trials look at new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease. Researchers also use clinical trials to look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. Find out if clinical trials are right for you.

What Is The Treatment For Acute Prostatitis

  • Antibiotics. A four-week course is needed. Antibiotics are generally started before the confirmatory urine test results are back. The first antibiotic may be changed after the result of the urine test is back. The urine test finds exactly which germ is causing the infection and the best antibiotic to treat it. Four weeks of antibiotics are thought to be necessary to reduce the chance that you develop persistent prostatitis. If you are very unwell, you may need to go into hospital to have the antibiotics given through a vein..
  • Paracetamol or ibuprofen ease pain and high temperature . They are best taken regularly rather than now and then. Stronger painkillers are sometimes needed.
  • Laxatives can keep your stools soft, if needed. They may help to ease pain if you have hard stools in your back passage , pressing on your infected prostate.

Whats The Purpose Of The Female Prostate

In recent years, MRI has helped to clarify the appearance and function of the female prostate. More research is needed, but researchers are starting to get a better understanding of these glands.

In men, the prostate gland is suspected of being able to store infection in the body. That fact makes researchers wonder whether the Skenes glands serve a similar function. How that might work in men or women is important to know as doctors try to find how infection works in people who are HIV-positive, for example.

Researchers also are interested that the female prostate produces PSA. The presence of PSA is one of the indicators of prostate cancer in men. It also shows up in women who have certain types of breast cancer . It may be that the role of PSA in both men and women is more complicated than we understand.

Elevated PSA levels before treatment for cancer of the Skenes glands, and declining levels after, were found in cases where people received

Should I Avoid Having Sex If I Have Prostatitis

Prostatitis is an extremely common condition affecting men. While it is more common in older men, it can occur at any age.

Essentially, it is an inflammation of the male prostate gland that may be the result of a bacterial or fungal infection. It can also occur without any infection simply from the result of mechanical irritation.

According to some experts, prostatitis is the symptom-producing condition of the genitourinary tract for which men most often seek medical help. Roughly 40 percent of visits by men to urologists are for prostatitis.

In a healthy man, prostatitis can be brought about by irritation to the gland from external stimuli, such as bike or motorcycle riding, excessive exercise, sexual activity, or even lack of sufficient sexual activity. The term prostatitis is used by many medical professionals for almost all cases of prostate inflammation, even when there is no readily apparent cause.

The purpose of the male prostate gland is to generate fluids for lubrication and transporting sperm containing semen outside the male body during sexual intercourse. This seminal fluid contains enzymes, some minerals, and, most importantly, sperm cells for propagating the species.

Could A Prostate Infection Spread To Your Partner

Prostate infection is usually caused by bacteria or other pathogens. When prostate get infected, there must be bacteria or pathogens in prostate fluids, which can enter into vagina during intercourse as a part of semen. Then bacteria or pathogens entering into vagina can cause infection or inflammation. This is the point view that many people hold. But it is true?

Actually, this question can’t be anwsered simply by “Yes” or “No”. First, you should know clearly about the type of your prostatitis. Clinically there is no bacteria found in 90% of prostatitis, which means it is non bacterial prostatitis. If a man has this type of prostatitis, the infection can’t be trasnmitted to a woman.

Q:I have a question about your prostate-cancer series . My husband and I have been married for 50 years. I’m 80 and he’s 85 and his PSA is about is 14 or 15. He doesn’t want to get a biopsy and his doctor isn’t recommending it. We still have an active sex life and what I want to know is this: If he has prostate cancer, is it possible that some prostate-cancer cells could be transferred through his semen to me during unprotected sex? I know women don’t have prostates, but could they lodge somewhere in my body and grow as cancer? His urologist said it’s unlikely, but does anybody really know?

Who Is More Likely To Develop Prostatitis

The factors that affect a mans chances of developing prostatitis differ depending on the type.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Men with nerve damage in the lower urinary tract due to surgery or trauma may be more likely to develop chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Psychological stress may also increase a mans chances of developing the condition.

Acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis. Men with lower UTIs may be more likely to develop bacterial prostatitis. UTIs that recur or are difficult to treat may lead to chronic bacterial prostatitis.

Does Sex Affect The Risk Of Prostate Cancer

In 2016, a study that appeared in European Urology looked at whether frequent ejaculation protects against prostate cancer.

The investigation involved almost 32,000 men and looked to build on previous research, which had found that more regular ejaculation seemed to lower prostate cancer risk.

This new research also concluded that ejaculating more often lowered the chances of prostate cancer.

However, the authors called for further research because other factors, aside from ejaculation, could account for the results. They could not confirm that ejaculation protects against prostate cancer.

One theory, which is known as prostate stagnation, suggests that ejaculating less often allows potentially cancer-causing secretions to build up.

It often helps people to hear about the experiences of others, which can make them feel less alone in their situation.

On healthtalk.org, men talk on camera about their experiences of sexual dysfunction and prostate cancer.

Chlamydia is a horrible sexually transmitted disease causing pathogen that is difficult to IMPOSSIBLE cure in males as it hides inside of healthy human cells. It sterilizes females causing a condition call immotile cilla syndrome which means it destroys the ciliated and secretory cells within the human Fallopian tube epithelium that normally facilitate in the movement of sperm to the ovaries and effectively making the woman unable to become pregnant or possibly have a dangerous ectopic pregnancy. In male that are asymptomatic the damage is the spread to uninfected females that may also become asymptomatic spreading to other males. Couples must abstain from unprotected sex. Careful screening before marriage and then no sex outside of marriage is the only guarantee to protect your reproductive health. Unfortunately there are other bacteria such a pleomorphic mycobacterium that also play a major role that damage the sexual organs that are not curable. That is the cost of the promiscuous lifestyle promoted by the media. Now you know why you can not have any children as this is the major reason for it. The medical industry is silent about it as it is a highly profitable condition and helps keep the population down – this is by design of the globalist socialist engineers.

What Symptoms Indicate An Issue With The Female Prostate

Treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with maca ...

Because this type of cancer is rare, there arent a lot of case studies. That means recognizing symptoms of this type of cancer may be difficult.

If you experience bleeding out of your urethra, you should see a doctor. That may be a symptom of cancer of the Skenes glands. Or its more likely a symptom of another issue with your urethra. The bleeding may not be accompanied by any pain, and it may happen on and off over a period of time.

Its always best to see a doctor if you notice any abnormal symptoms, especially if they recur. Early diagnosis can help improve your outlook for most conditions. You should see your doctor if you have any of these symptoms, which could indicate other conditions:

  • painful or frequent urination, or if its difficult to pass urine
  • blood in your urine, or passing blood from your urethra
  • painful sexual intercourse
  • feeling of pressure behind the pubic bones
  • abnormal menstrual cycle, or sudden changes to your menstrual cycle

There are conditions other than cancer that may be related to the Skenes glands, and which may cause noticeable symptoms.

female prostatitis has been diagnosed as an infection of the urethra, but may actually be an infection of the Skenes glands. In the past this has been diagnosed as infection of the urethra. Doctors are increasingly aware that the female prostate can be a separate site of infection that should be treated separately.

Symptoms of infection of the Skenes glands may include:

Assessment Of A History Of Sexually Transmitted Infections Prostatitis And Frequency Of Ejaculation

On the 1992 questionnaire, participants were asked whether they had ever had a diagnosis of syphilis, gonorrhea, or neither whether they had ever had prostatitis or prostatic infection how long their symptoms had persisted whether they had ever been treated for prostatitis and at what age they were first treated . Participants were further asked how many ejaculations they had on average per month at ages 2029 and 4049 years and during the past year . We categorized gonorrhea and syphilis separately, as no, yes, or missing , and prostatitis as no, young-onset prostatitis , other prostatitis , and missing. Ejaculation frequency from ages 2029 years was used to describe early life sexual activity. We combined the lower two ejaculation frequency categories because of small numbers and included a missing category. Ejaculation frequencies from ages 4049 years and in the year prior to completion of the 1992 questionnaire were categorized in the same manner.

Can I Prevent Prostatitis

Prostatitis is a condition that causes your prostate gland to become swollen, tender, and inflamed. It can be quite painful, especially when you pee or ejaculate . The most common locations of pain were the perineum , testes , suprapubic area , and penis

Doctors arenât always sure what causes prostatitis. Common causes vary depending on whether it is acute vs. chronic and/or infectious vs inflammation. Sometimes, an infection in your urinary tract is to blame. Other times, itâs due to an injury or nerve damage. In many cases, doctors never find the cause.

Because of that, treatment for prostatitis can be a challenge. For some men, it can take months — or even years — to recover.

Thereâs no sure way to prevent getting this condition, but many small lifestyle changes can help keep your prostate gland healthy. They may also help to lower your risk of prostatitis. If you already have problems with your prostate, try these tips to ease your symptoms and keep your issue from getting worse.

Have good hygiene. Keep your penis and the area around it clean to prevent infection.

Stand up when possible. When you sit for long periods, it puts pressure on your prostate gland and inflames it over time. Try to avoid long bike rides and sitting down for too long.

Eat more fruits and veggies. Theyâre high in nutrients that can keep your body healthy and help you fight off infections and inflammation.

Infection By Germs That Normally Live In Your Bowel

Understanding Advanced Prostate Cancer

This is the usual cause. Some bacteria that live harmlessly in the bowel commonly get on to the skin near to the anus when we pass stools . In some people they may then multiply. Some of these bacteria may then travel up the urethra and cause infection anywhere in the urinary tract – that is, the kidneys, bladder, prostate, or urethra. This is called a ‘urinary tract infection‘.

A prostate infection may also occur with or without other parts of the urinary tract being infected. Some conditions that cause pooling or blockage of urine increase the risk of a urinary tract infection. For example, having an enlarged prostate or kidney stones. This is because bacteria often thrive and multiply quickly in pooled urine.

What Causes Prostatitis

An infection causes bacterial prostatitis. It is chronic if it starts slowly and lasts for several months. It is acute if it begins and goes away quickly. Infection can occur from:

  • A biopsy or surgery
  • A sexually transmitted disease
  • Urine blockage
  • An injury to your genitals.

Nonbacterial prostatitis is more common but its cause is unknown. This type usually is chronic. It may be related to a previous urinary tract infection or chemicals in your urine. Pelvic nerve damage also is a possible cause.

Study Population And Design

The DoDSR contains serum remaining from human immunodeficiency virus type 1 screening during pre-induction, at routine periodic intervals , before and after major overseas deployments, for clinical indications, and as part of standard clinical STI work-up. Specimens are linked to demographic information, service-related activity, and reportable ) and non-reportable medical diagnoses .

Men eligible for the present study were those who were < 25 years of age as of 1995 HIV-1 negative on continuous active duty from 1995 to 2006 and had several archived specimens in the DoDSR . We defined STI cases as men with a laboratory-confirmed diagnosis of chlamydia , gonorrhoea , or NCNGU in 2001â2003. Diagnoses were confirmed according to military guidelines NCNGU required specific exclusion of chlamydia and gonorrhoea . We defined controls as men with no STI or infectious mononucleosis diagnoses in their medical record up to 2006. Exclusion of mononucleosis diagnoses was needed for a separate investigation. Controls were frequency matched to the entire case group by race.

This study was approved by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and Johns Hopkins. All data/specimens were anonymised before release from the DoDSR.
